As summer approaches, things start slowing down, as people around Europe are preparing for some well-deserved summer holidays… But not our team! We have been consistently going the extra mile to spread the word about the work we’re doing in REDOL, which is why we have had some busy months lately, from late spring and going into this autumn season… let’s look at what we attended recently:
- We joined the popular European Researchers’ Night initiative, that takes place every late September in many cities across Europe. From our side, we attended the activities in Zaragoza, where colleagues from the University of Zaragoza explained concepts related to recycling, sustainability, and circular economy, to participants passing by and joining our stand.
- Our colleagues at CIRCE – Centro Tecnológico and AMB Electrónica went to this year’s Burgos Industry 4.0 Technology meeting, where they presented the AI-powered solutions developed in our project: the machine that extracts PCB components (you can see exactly what the machine does in our video here).
- We joined the K – The World’s No.1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber event, where our colleagues at ITENE had a stand, showcasing the EU-funded projects they are involved in, including REDOL.
- We conducted a workshop with students as part of our Café Repair initiative and we got to teach them basic welding techniques to understand how to extend the life of our electronic devices – and subsequently reduce waste.
- Our colleagues at Next Technology Tecnotessile attended the ECOSYSTEX annual conference in Gothenburg to promote their work on the sustainable transition of the textile sector in several EU-funded projects, including REDOL.
- They were also present at the first edition of the Textile Recycling Expo in Brussels, where they presented a poster on behalf of REDOL dedicated to the textile value chain and how they optimise the sorting system for textile waste, while facilitating recycling of certain textile materials through pre-treatment.
- Lastly, we went to the Prato Textile District Days, an event that explores the transformation of Prato, famous for its textile industry, in connection with the digital transition, sustainability, and new EU regulations.
As we prepare for our review meeting in January, we are taking stock of everything we achieved, and already plan for the last year of the project. Time to roll up our sleeves and push harder than ever for the project’s impact!
