Ursula von der Leyen calls for a more circular and resilient economy
In her recent address on 18 July, Ursula von der Leyen, the re-elected President of the European Commission, outlined the political guidelines for the 2024–2029 term, with a strong emphasis on competitiveness and sustainability.
Central to her vision is introducing a new Circular Economy Act, which aims to foster a more circular and resilient economy within the EU. This initiative will create market demand for secondary materials and establish a single market for waste, addressing critical raw material needs while minimizing dependencies on external sources.
As we navigate the climate crisis, embracing the circular economy becomes essential for ensuring sustainable and secure energy supplies and raw materials.
